The Connections and Interactions Between Soil, Plants and Food” is a must-attend event for those interested in understanding the deep connections between soil, plants and human health. This webinar will be held on June 25, 2024 on World Microbiome Day and will offer a multidisciplinary view on how the soil microbiome affects food quality and human well-being, with a special focus on regenerative agriculture, microbiome interactions, the living soil concept, and the One-Health approach.

The soil microbiome is a key element in the quality of our crops and, consequently, our food supply. Recent studies have shown that soil and plant microbiomes influence not only food composition and quality, but also the human microbiome, creating a direct link between soil and plant health and our well-being. The “Mediterranean diet,” widely recognized as one of the most balanced and healthy diets, owes its richness in vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds such as polyphenols also to the quality of the soil in which its plants grow. This demonstrates the importance of living and healthy soil, not only for food production, but for global health according to the concept of One-Health, which emphasizes the interconnection between the health of humans, animals and ecosystems.

Interventions

The Living Soil and One-Health
Vincenzo Michele Sellitto, Director of the Soil Museum (Pertosa SA), University of Timisoara

The soil microbiome in the service of primary production
Annamaria Bevivino, ENEA – Department of Sustainability of Productive and Territorial Systems.

Interactions between soil microbiome and human microbiome
Duccio Cavalieri, University of Florence

Interactions between soil and plant microorganisms and their influence on the nutraceutical characteristics of foods
Manuela Giovannetti, University of Pisa

Download the event poster

Register for the webinar and be surprised by a learning experience you won’t forget!

SIGN UP NOW

The event is valid as recognition of CFP-Professional Training Credits.

[3327,4846,4845,1581
1447
post-19042","mec-events","type-mec-events","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-food-en","tag-human","tag-microbiome","tag-soil","mec_category-from-our-networks
["GET
