{"id":22055,"date":"2025-04-22T17:24:49","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T15:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/org.wwoof.it\/2025\/04\/ngts-new-gmos\/"},"modified":"2025-04-22T19:16:49","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T17:16:49","slug":"ngts-new-gmos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/org.wwoof.it\/en\/2025\/04\/ngts-new-gmos\/","title":{"rendered":"NGTs new GMOs."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What future for agriculture in the EU?<\/h2>\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p>We gladly relaunch a very well-constructed article by Dario Dongo on the topic of new GMOs: it is increasingly urgent that public awareness increase to try to stem this very dangerous drift.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>The European Union is poised to implement a radical transformation of its agricultural policy through the proposed deregulation of New Genomic Techniques (NGTs), or &#8216;new GMOs.&#8217; This reform project, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodtimes.eu\/consumer-en\/old-and-new-gmos-exploitations-and-monopolies-soyalism\/\">supported by the European Parliament<\/a> since 2019, and adopted <\/em> <em>by the Commission in 2023, had so far met with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodtimes.eu\/food-system-en\/new-gmos-deregulation-2\/\">resistance from some member states<\/a>. However, the latter finally agreed on March 14, 2025, to conclude the negotiations. <\/em><\/p>\n\n<p><em>This crucial breakthrough is no cause for jubilation for all those who, like this writer, defend biodiversity, environmental integrity, public health and farmers&#8217; rights. Denouncing the unscrupulous outrage against the precautionary principle, in defiance of the Treaty, and a direct attack on peoples&#8217; food sovereignty. <\/em><\/p>\n\n<p><em>A non-sterile critique of this subversive reform follows, to note its false premises, dangerous environmental and socio-economic implications, and obscuring consumers&#8217; rights to know the identity of food.
