Dry stone construction technique course

We are excited to share with you the program of the Dry Stone Construction Technique Course, a project that was born from the collaboration between TEF and the Montalbano BioDistrict Association for the conservation and enhancement of terraced systems and dry stone walls in the Montalbano area.   • 28 and 29/03 full day – practice

Detailed course program:

THEORY: 20/03 and 27/03 from 6 p.m. at the Aldo Bartoli Hall c/o Green Cross of Lamporecchio

  • Types and functions of dry-stone artifacts state of the art nationally and internationally (Anna Perazzolo – Doctor of Forestry, ITLA ITALY member)
  • Regulatory framework (Anna Perazzolo – Doctor of Forestry, ITLA ITALY member and technician of the Italian School of Dry Stone ITLA Italy)
  • Safety regulations (Lisa Iannascoli – Architect,ITLA ITALY memberand technician of the Italian School of Dry Stone ITLA ITALY)
  • Stone characteristics and impact of dry-stone artifacts on geomorphological balance (Corrado Ciurli – Geologist)
  • Hydraulic regimentation and dry stone artifacts (Federico Preti – Hydraulic engineer, ITLA ITALY member)
  • Doing agriculture on the terraced hillside (Simone Randelli – Agronomist)
  • Dry-stone constructions in history and prehistory: their reading, testimony (Andrea Vanni Desideri – Archaeologist)

PRACTICE: 21-22/03 and 28-29/03 full day at theForrà del pruno farm

Held by Jerry Pieri and Andrea Menichetti, dry stone craftsmen

  • Construction site risk assessment and safety compliance (also with Lisa Iannascoli – Architect)
  • Site organization, division of work areas, and site preparation
  • Wall sizing with definition of excavation and elevation inclinations
  • Introduction to stone working techniques and cutting tools.
  • Wall crowning
  • Final arrangement of the site area
