Natural Dyeing Workshop
Each participant will be given a silk scarf dyed during the workshop
You can also attend the single day but full attendance is recommended
We will learn about the dyeing herbs of the Mediterranean flora.
You will be able to learn how to dye with some of the plants traditionally used to dye cotton, wool, silk and linen.
The workshop is a true initiation into the art of dyeing; you will later be able to repeat natural dye baths on your own.
A small folder with sample cards of yarns dyed with the herbs used during the workshop will be made, to take home.
We will use stamps and ancient dyeing systems, Indian Renaissance technique of dyeing and printing together. Rehearsal of Japanese Shibori with indigo.
Cross-cultural variations and curiosities in Asia and Africa will be discussed.
