Dear WWOOFers and Hosts, There is a new way to tell the story of our connection to the earth, and it is through the lens of a camera. We are happy to present the second edition of Corto Botanico, the film contest that challenges filmmakers and enthusiasts to create a short film in just 96 hours!
This year’s central theme is powerful and as relevant as ever: RESILIENCE. Just like the plants we admire on our farms – able to take root among the rocks, defy the elements and flourish again where it seemed impossible – we too are called to tell stories of resilience and the vital relationship between the plant world and human beings.
🌿 How does it work?
The contest takes place in Florence, in collaboration with the historic Tuscan Horticultural Society:
- Registration: There is time until April 17, 2026.
- The Launch (April 26): Each team will be assigned a specific plant and a secret phrase to be included in the short film.
- The Challenge: 96 hours to conceive, shoot and edit a maximum 9-minute film.
- The Awards Ceremony (April 30): Screening and final party in the impressive Tepidarium of the Horticulture Garden.
🌍 Why participate?
Whether you are an experienced filmmaker or just a nature lover with a smartphone in hand, Corto Botanico is an opportunity to give voice (and images) to biodiversity. It is an invitation to look at plants not just as background, but as active protagonists of our daily resistance.
