WWOOF is looking for videomakers! Enter the contest and tell us what WWOOF means to you

by | Oct 16, 2026 | Messages from the Association

Are you a WWOOFer or a host who would like to get involved behind (and/or in front of) the camera?
We’re delighted to share FoWO’s (Federation of WWOOF Organisation) invitation to members of the WWOOF community worldwide: help us tell the story, capture the spirit and convey the deeper meaning of WWOOF in our first flagship video on YouTube!

WWOOF is made up of personal experiences that turn out to be shared ones. That’s why we’d love our members themselves to convey its essence, each through their own perspective and words.
The video submissions will be reviewed and selected, and the best contributions will be professionally edited into a single video for WWOOF’s YouTube channel.

How the contest works

The contest involves creating a video in which hosts and/or WWOOFers answer the following guiding questions (those with an asterisk are mandatory):

  • What made you decide to join WWOOF?
  • What is WWOOF, in your own words?*
What does a typical day look like for you?
What have you learned through WWOOFing or hosting?*
What’s a moment from your experience that’s stayed with you?*
What would you say to someone who’s considering WWOOFing or hosting? What is WWOOF, in your own words?*

You can b the director and interview other members, or share your own experience directly in front of the camera. The aim is to capture honest, spontaneous answers that convey the spirit of WWOOF, along with a bit of footage from daily life on the farm.
You don’t need professional equipment: a good smartphone and a few simple tips are all you need!

You can find this and more information in the FoWO article and in the Filming guide.

All contest materials are in English, but interviews can be recorded in any language!

The top 5 selected submissions will receive a prize of 100 euro and will be featured in WWOOF’s flagship “What is WWOOF” video. Creators will be credited as contributors.

Submit your videos by 5:00 a.m. on December 24, 2026 (Italian time) via the Google Form, but before you get behind the camera, be sure to read all the details in the FoWO announcement!

If you have any questions, please contact communication@wwoof.net

Lights, camera, action!
