From Feb. 27 to March 1, the ANNUAL MEETING of WWOOF Italy members will be held.
at the facilities of
Ostello Sant’Anna, Massa Marittima (GR).
After four years of gatherings on the Adriatic, this year the most important event for WWOOF Italy returns to the Tyrrhenian Sea. We will be in Massa Marittima, in the facilities of the Ostello Sant’Anna, but the formula remains similar: three days to be together, to take stock of what has been done, to look up at what still needs to be done. At the last Community Council meeting, the idea of dedicating each year to a new theme was born, and for 2026 to serve as a thread for our reasoning will be Water. A vital element for those who want to do agriculture, yet one that has become increasingly difficult to manage over the years: the advancing desert, the landsliding hillsides, the role of the farmer increasingly indispensable as a bulwark of defense.

Thursday, February 26
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Community Board Meeting
A day dedicated to those who are already part of this group or those who are interested in attending as listeners to be part of it in the future. The Community Board works alongside the Board of Directors throughout the year to develop strategies, visions, projects.
Friday, Feb. 27
9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Circle of coordinators
A space dedicated to those engaged in the role of coordinator in the territory, to try to answer this and other questions: how to animate the territories by bringing our messages? What characteristics should those who propose themselves as hosts have?
3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Water: too much or too little?
3 to 5 p.m. Paolo Ermani: Light agriculture and self-irrigating gardens
To follow: more talks on the theme of this year’s assembly: water, an indispensable resource for agriculture. How the farmer can cope with climate change and its effects: water scarcity and devastating rainfall

Roundtable discussion on small-scale agriculture
A moment of free discussion on the challenges and difficulties of those who decide to make a living from working the land. In the dialogue we will be accompanied by the group that attended the facilitation course organized by WWOOF Italy last year.

Farmers’ Market
WWOOF Italy
Morning entirely dedicated to farmers’ market: swapping, selling and lots of background chatter
- For those who prefer it, it will be possible to stay overnight in an RV
- The kitchen staff will prepare the meals
- Volunteer shifts will be shared for the management of cleaning, canteen service and dishes.
- Participation is free! Anyone who wants can contribute with a free offer

How to reach the gathering
In Massa Marittima at the Sant’Anna hostel.
on foot
You can walk to the meeting place. You can ask for any info in the registration form.
by train
The nearest station is Follonica, which can be reached by fast regional or intercity from Rome or Florence (change in Pisa). From there it is possible to take a bus (numbers 44, 37 0 49) to Massa Marittima, but at certain times shuttles will be organized between Follonica and the assembly venue .
by car
For those coming from the north: take the Colle Val d’Elsa exit on the Firenze Siena highway. From there take Strada Provinciale 541 delle Galleraie to Montieri and from there SP 439 del Pavone to Massa Marittima.
For those coming from the south: take the E80 freeway to Massa Marittima
