It is the beginning of a legal battle that could mark a turning point in pesticide management in Europe. The Pesticide Victims Support Collective in the West, Foodwatch, France Parkinson, and UFC-Que Choisir have joined the action brought by Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Europe and its members ClientEarth, Générations Futures, GLOBAL 2000, Pesticide Action Network Germany, and Pesticide Action Network Netherlands before the General Court of the European Union challenging the EU Commission’s refusal to review its decision to renew the approval of glyphosate for another ten years. The latter is the world’s most widely used herbicide, framed by the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer as a potential carcinogen in 2015 and suspected of being linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s.
