With pleasure we disseminate here the appeal of our member Domenico Maffeo (host profile: https://wwoof.it/it/host/54782), who together with the Solidarity Economy District operating around Venice, Mestre and Treviso has great ideas for the future. If, after a period of WWOOFing, you have realized that that is the farming world is the one for you and you want to give substance to a shared agricultural project, this could certainly be an interesting opportunity. In more detail, the project has three phases-the people who created it describe them as follows:
THE THREE STEPS TO TAKE
Stage 1. Learn by doing
Two weeks of immersion in our activities (organic farming, forest education, catering, beekeeping…) with hosting as a WWOOF host (annual membership). While you help us, we will pass on our knowledge in these fields, enriching you with useful skills!
Room and board will be provided by us: you can sleep in a shared double room or in a tent.
We will open our community to getting to know each other, with shared meals, operational meetings, telling our story, and other serious and playful group activities. Together with you there will probably be other people on the same path as you, allowing for the formation of a small group that can build fellowship (you can also join the path together with your partner or friends if they have similar motivations).
During the two weeks there will be 4 group meetings with two counselors, who will accompany you in this experience, to focus on your experience and motivations and support you in any difficulties (a financial contribution is required for these meetings: remember that at the center is your personal growth worth investing in). In addition, if you wish, this opportunity for personal growth can be extended beyond this experience; our counselors will be available to support you!
Stage 2. Applied agroecology in working
After the first 2 weeks, there is a break period, in which you can reflect on whether you wish to devote yourself to this lifestyle and whether you wish to do it as part of a larger, coordinated work and group.
If successful, the course will resume (with a duration to be agreed upon) with gradual inclusion in projects and job prospects.
Stage 3. Rural residential communities.
With or without an additional break in your growth path will then open up the possibility of becoming an active part of a rural residential community if you wish!
We desire that you too can live in resonance with your values. And if they are akin to ours-love of nature, food sovereignty, collaboration, caring for each other, sharing-we look forward to you experiencing abundance in a community life…and in service to the Earth!
