Meanings and definitions, principles, pathways and approaches for the transformation of local food systems.
After years of the Network’s activities, in fact, it was deemed appropriate to provide an inspirational document for those interested in or working on local food policies. It is not a guide or a manual as much as, rather, a broad reflection on what it means to design, with a systems approach, local food policies.
The document-addressed in particular to public administrations, territorial associations, development agencies and academia-also outlines an agenda of possible actions, showing some of the directions in which to move to concretely build food policies.
With these, and other objectives outlined in the paper, food policies are configured as the set of multi-sectoral and transdisciplinary legislative processes and initiatives, defined, designed and implemented by local governments together with civil society, research and the private sector, aimed at regulating food systems at the local scale, with objectives of environmental sustainability and social equity.
The document is available in Italian, French and English to stimulate comparison with foreign communities and networks.
