an initiative in the European Parliament – the letter of convocation

We are pleased to share this letter from Fulvia Panza, coordinator of the Pesticide-Free Cities Network.

We will give you information on the possibility of following the conference online

The conference ‘Pesticide-Free Cities: from European Policies to Territories, for Healthier Green Spaces‘ will be held on 28 September at 6pm at the European Parliament in Brussels.

About us:

Pesticide Action Network (PAN) is a Brussels-based environmental and human health NGO. It has been working since 1987 to minimise the negative effects of hazardous pesticides and to replace their use with ecologically sound and socially just alternatives. Reducing the use of pesticides is a prerequisite for improving public and workers’ health while protecting the environment.

Our campaign:

My name is Fulvia Panza, coordinator of one of our most important PAN-Europre projects, the European Network of Pectisides-free Cities. The overall objective of the network is to bring together a critical mass of cities committed to phasing out the use of pesticides and to provide a European platform of experiences, practices and knowledge sharing and mutual support. The European Network of Pesticide Free Cities provides for a Europe in which the use of pesticides is minimized and replaced with existing sustainable alternatives, and therefore the health of citizens and the environment is safeguarded, and a better quality of life is achieved.

The event:

The conference will be held on 28 September 2022 at the European Parliament in Brussels from 18.00 to 20.00 . It will be organized as a round table attended by numerous European mayors, MEPs from the committees on the environment, pesticides and agriculture, political representatives of the governments of the Member States, members of the Committee of the Regions and journalists. This is an important opportunity to exchange views and good practices on sustainable management of urban spaces from a European perspective.

The conference will receive a great deal of media coverage and, to this end, we therefore believe it will represent a valuable opportunity for visibility for you.

Please, do not hesitate to contact me. Best regards.

Rassecale, the story

At Rassecale (Mirabella Eclano, AV) we were welcomed by a young community, now undergoing renovation but still with many projects to come: Marco and Pauline are running their wonderful vegetable garden, Marina has moved from Spain to help with the animals. Arrived here as a WWOOFer, her story is a testimonial of how impactful our association can be on agricultural practice and people’s life.
