Couple of travelers with hen. WWOOFers or friends?

Couples, families or groups

by | May 9, 2023 | Associative life, How to, Messages from the Association

Happy to host you, but…..

Increasingly, hosts get requests from friends traveling as a couple or group, or from families with or without children.

An enriching experience for those hosts who have adequate space and great pleasure in sharing.

Every host in their own home is free to welcome whomever they wish, but please bear in mind that in order to be covered from a legal and insurance point of view, each adult hosted must be a regularly registered WWOOFer and hold his or her own membership card.

Non-members may be welcomed as guest, but they are not regular WWOOFers- and therefore they are neither covered by insurance nor have a legal status as volunteers of the associtation.

What it means to be a regularly registered member of the association

WWOOF Italia is an Association. Those who join gain membership status and can choose from a variety of roles.

You can become a WWOOFer if you want to volunteer in Education Centers and become a Host if you want to manage one.

Or you can choose as an Ordinary Member to participate in the Association’s activities and support its projects without being a Host or WWOOFer. The relationship between Members is equal while respecting the different roles and allowing a smooth exchange in pursuit of the common purpose of “promoting the development of natural agriculture as a lifestyle choice and the dissemination of ideas and practices for a healthy balance between man and nature.”

When relations among Members are conducted in accordance with the Status and Rules of the Association, their legality is guaranteed.

Legal Coverage

WWOOF Italia is a Social Promotion Association registered in the National Single Register of the Third Sector and takes care of the drafting of the Members’ Book and the Volunteers’ Book to make the collaboration among Members in the Educational Centers adhering to the association project crystal clear and recognizable.

The Internal Regulations of WWOOF Italia APS in 2014 underwent a certifcation procedure by the Biagi Institute of UNIMORE. The resulting measure stipulates that the activities that volunteers (WWOOFers) carry out at the educational centers (Hosts) associated with WWOOF Italia, within the scope of what is prescribed by the Association’s Statute and Regulations, are exempt from labor legislation.

For this reason, it is important to be in good standing and to keep a copy of the Membership Card on hand to prove adherence to the Membership Covenant to authorities should the need arise and for mutual protection in the relationship between Members.
