Ciro, our host and historical coordinator, launched in the Council Community the idea of enhancing and networking among WWOOF members the products that each of us grows and processes on our own farm. The proposal of an internal market, going beyond what we organize at assemblies and gatherings, had already been born some time ago, and we are now trying to put it into practice, following the example of Cyrus who already uses a similar system in his own network. Let us now begin to test this system as well, starting with one of the most common products among our farmers: Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
How does it work?
How it works is very simple: In this post you will find the list of hosts who have indicated to us their willingness to sell oil. Contact between buyers and sellers will be made through their respective WWOOF profiles:
By clicking on the Host’s name, you will be able to see the profile of the person offering their oil and contact them through the internal messaging system directly from the WWOOF site, to know the details (price, format, etc.).
The Host will receive the message, as if it were a request for a visit from a WWOOFer, and will respond to you.
Some are arranged to ship the product and are marked with an asterisk (*), while others will need to visit the farm directly and are therefore more suitable if they are passing through or close to the Host.
Why?
The goal is to lend a hand to members in trading their products, but also to push us to get to know each other better, to help each other, and to support a sense of community.
WWOOF Italy, as an association, as it has always done is also committed to sourcing the products that are used during assemblies and rallies directly from its Hosts, further supporting members’ economies.
