Directions for WWOOF Italy volunteers.

The decree of the Tuscany Region, with the related guidelines, concerns health prevention in food production from harvest to processing and serving of food. If you are an agricultural VAT number holder and are not familiar with it, we recommend that you read it carefully.

Numerous calls for training for employees from trade associations were of particular concern to one host in the Province of Pisa, fresh from an inspection.

In order to be able to give you precise guidance regarding the obligations for volunteers, we put a question directly to the relevant regional offices.

We received the response which we reproduce below. We recommend that you file it for use as needed.

As you can read, similar to the issue of occupational safety, you are simply required to pass on to the volunteers the knowledge you have acquired in your training, as well as to provide the appropriate means of protection where necessary.

Of course, things become more complicated if volunteers actively participate in the processing of food for sale or serving.

Your trade associations should be able to guide you through the articulated educational offerings.
