Transumansia is Arianna Porcelli Safonov’s most radical project: a trek exploring the Apennine ridges between satire, literature and whispered sociality. The actual traversal of the landscape is encouraged by Arianna walking with the audience through eight-kilometer loops with moderate elevation gain, suitable for anyone who not only wants to listen to her, but also wants to get involved and experience the forests that guard and protect the history of Italy and the archeology of its ecosystem.

Transumansia includes six stops in the woods in which Arianna reads a selection of texts from her book Fucking Countryside and from the bibliography of authors who have decided to make the residential leap from the city to the forest.

From Walden to Adriana Zarri, from Calamandrei, Muir to Giorgio Boatti, Transumansia is designed for those who at least once thought, “I’ll drop everything and go live in the country,” but haven’t yet done so or have done so and downsized!

A journey of emotional healing, self-discovery and detachment from material burdens, but also a way to get in touch with nature without disturbing it, laughing at the bucolic rhetoric of recent years and returning home with a few more tools, as much practical as spiritual.
