Couples, families or groups are welcome, if they follow the rules

Happy to host them, but…

As a host have you received requests to visit from couples, families, or friends traveling in groups?

Hosting more than one WWOOFer can be an enriching experience if you have adequate space and great pleasure in sharing.

Remember, however, that every adult and every teenager who is 16 years of age or older must be duly registered as a member and hold their own personal membership card to be covered from a legal and insurance standpoint.

Anyone who travels without being a member of the association cannot be considered a WWOOFer. They can still visit you, but only as welcome guests and not as members of WWOOF Italy. Of course you are free to host them at your place, but you should be aware that they will not have the legal and insurance coverage of WWOOF Italy.

➡️Two WWOOFers traveling together have the option to create a dual account and send you a single visit request through their shared profile.

☑️If you see two first names and two last names on the WWOOFer profile means that both are duly registered as members.

⚠️In case more than one WWOOFer contacts you from a single individual profile, remember to verify the membership of all fellow travelers by asking for the link to each other’s profiles or membership cards.

❌ Never host multiple people traveling with one membership card: anyone who is not a member of WWOOF Italy could be considered an undocumented worker and cause you legal problems.

What it means to be a regularly registered member of the association

WWOOF Italy APS is an Association. Those who join gain membership status and can choose from a variety of roles.

You can become a WWOOFer if you want to volunteer in Education Centers and become a Host if you want to manage one.

Or you can choose as an Ordinary Member to participate in the Association’s activities and support its projects without being a Host or WWOOFer. The relationship between Members is equal while respecting the different roles and allowing a smooth exchange in pursuit of the common purpose of “promoting the development of natural agriculture as a lifestyle choice and the dissemination of ideas and practices for a healthy balance between man and nature.”

When relations among Members are conducted in accordance with the Status and Rules of the Association, their legality is guaranteed.

Legal Coverage

WWOOF Italia APS is a Social Promotion Association registered in the Single National Register of the Third Sector and takes care of the preparation of the Register of Members and the Register of Volunteers to make crystal clear and recognizable the collaboration between Members in the Educational Centers adhering to the association project.

The Internal Regulations of WWOOF Italia APS in 2014 underwent a certification procedure by the Biagi Institute of UNIMORE. The resulting measure enshrines that the activities that volunteers (WWOOFers) carry out at the educational centers run by the host members (Hosts) of WWOOF Italia, within the scope of what is prescribed by the Association’s Bylaws and Regulations, are exempt from labor legislation as they are recognized as institutional associational activities and not work activities.

For this reason, it is important to be in good standing and to keep a copy of the Membership Card on hand to prove to the authorities membership in WWOOF Italy should the need arise; and for mutual protection in the relationship between Members.
