Between January and June 2025, under the Polish presidency of the European Council of Ministers, the discussion focused on Articles 1 to 40. Since the end of June, the presidency of the Council has passed to Denmark, which intends to reach an agreement among member states by the end of the year.

On July 5, 2023, the European Commission adopted a legislative proposal to deregulate new GMOs, disguised behind the acronyms NGTs (New Genomic Techniques) in English, TEAs (Tecniche di Evoluzione Assistita) in Italian, to mislead citizens and farmers and inhibit their historic opposition toward genetic engineering applied to our food.
