A Contribution of Genuino Clandestino Florence

It has not been easy to take a stand on the events that are sweeping through most European cities in this warm winter. For weeks now, farmers have taken to the streets with their tractors to protest the stringent policies affecting the first sector, food production; these agricultural entrepreneurs, so defined by law, are rebelling against the impositions of a complex set of laws and regulations and an equally complex incentive system (the CAP over all) in its latest version (2023 -2027), which they accuse as penalizing them.

These measures are in the vein of the so-called “ecological transition,” a now ample and overused formula for moving toward a more “sustainable” mode of food production, triggering a tug-of-war with the primary players in the supply chain. Protests often accompanied and supported by citizens who in a more or less structured and conscious way feel at the mercy of a system they no longer trust, and which they also feel they must oppose, defect, subvert.”
