Do I really have to reply?

It is not mandatory, but reccomended 😀

There are frequent complaints from WWOOFers that go unanswered by Hosts. Sometimes it is technical problems, but often it is poor attention to correspondence.

We encourage you to respond to visit requests even if only with a polite decline. This simple gesture of yours will help WWOOFers get better organized.

📅On your host profile, in the “Availability” section, you can choose the periods when you do not wish to host volunteers. For the days/months you have marked as closed periods, you will not receive requests to visit.

☑️If you want to take a longer break you can also hide your farm from the list by disabling the “Show my profile in the host list” button.

If you need assistance, you can always turn to staff@wwoof.it

WWOOFers are also not responding!

This may be your first instinctive response to our solicitation. It is certainly not by imitating undesirable behavior that the problem is solved. What’s more, some more responsibility regarding the spirit of association can be expected from the hosts.

What happens if you don’t respond soon?

Your profile page shows your response rates and the average frequency with which you respond. It’s a system that allows WWOOFers to adjust to the idea that farmers don’t spend their days in front of the computer but at the same time it should stimulate you to be more responsive: having low or near-zero percentages discourages WWOOFers from making further requests to visit, in the uncertainty of receiving responses.

If your response rate drops below 10%, and you have received at least 8 visit requests in the past 6 months, the visit request button on your profile will be automatically disabled. If this happens we will contact you by email to notify you of your situation. With the button deactivated, no further requests will come to you and you will be able to respond to the messages you receive in your own time.

To reactivate the button, all you need to do is start responding to the messages you had missed over the past few months. When your response rate returns above 10 percent, the visit request button will automatically reactivate.

This mechanism will prevent WWOOFers from writing to hosts who have been unable to maintain timely correspondence in the past six months. On the other hand, it will allow hosts with a low response rate to take a break and return contactable only when they have the right conditions to respond to traveling members on time.
