Letter sent to MEPs calling for responsible, forward-looking voting

13 civil society organizations committed to promoting an agroecological transition sent a letter to Italian MEPs ahead of the vote in the European Parliament plenary on the Commission’s proposal to further amend the CAP 2023-2027 regulations: the Commission continues its work of demolishing all measures to protect nature and health in agriculture.

What is presented as a “simplification” by the European Commission is actually a serious weakening of environmental protection in agricultural production: a proposal made without any assessment of climate or environmental impacts and without proper consultation with all social and economic stakeholders. Ultimately, yet another stab at the environmental and social sustainability of European agriculture.
