A Weekend of “Roots, Visions” and the Art of Doing Nothing
An entire weekend dedicated to the land, inner reflection, and the most radical agroecological practices. From July 10 to 12, 2026, Castel Focognano (Arezzo) will become a gathering place for anyone wishing to explore a deep, synergistic, and very low-impact relationship with nature.
All events are organized with sustainability in mind, following a zero-waste philosophy and based on the gift economy or the principle of free access.
Here is the complete schedule for the three days.
Friday, July 10: Roots and Visions (Day of Reconnection)
- Where: Cascina Acqua Gaia, Castel Focognano (AR)
- Admission: Free
Before the intensive workshop begins, Friday evening kicks off with a session dedicated to listening, meditation, and fellowship, led by the founders of RAN (Network for Natural Agriculture): Kutluhan Özdemir (farmer and educator) and Ezio Maisto (filmmaker and journalist).
Friday’s Schedule:
- 6:00 p.m. – Welcome meeting
- 6:30 p.m. – Zen meditation in the Plum Village tradition
- 7:30 p.m. – Conversations on Rebellious Agriculture
- 8:30 p.m. – Social aperitif dinner (everyone brings something to share)
- 9:30 p.m. – Music or sharing (musical instruments and singing are welcome)
July 10–12: “Doing Nothing” Farming Workshop
- Where: Castel Focognano (AR)
- Mode: The Gift Economy
Following that, the entire weekend will be devoted to the practical and theoretical aspects of “Do-Nothing Farming,” the agroecological approach inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka’s famous philosophy.
Led by Kutluhan Özdemir—author of key works published by Terra Nuova Edizioni, such as *Natural Agriculture and the Art of Doing Nothing* (2024) and *The Lesson of the Dew* (2026)—participants will discover how to reduce costs, lighten the workload, and eliminate environmental impacts. The method excludes plowing, synthetic fertilizers, or pesticides, relying exclusively on seeds, mulch, and complete trust in nature’s regenerative capacity.
