Roads that no longer connect, collapsing economies
It is perhaps the disruption of the normal road system that is causing the most problems in the Emilia-Romagna Apennines after the exceptional rains in May. The timeframe for restoration is expected to be long, when in fact the already fragile local economies need quick action to survive. The tenacious people who live here have no intention of abandoning the place, but help is needed.

Borgo Basino is isolated because of a landslide
Federica Faggioli, a host who has been active in our network in Cusercoli for years, is as concerned about this situation as she is determined to come out of it. “The mudslides took away the fences and animal shelter, but more importantly, they made the only road to our hamlet unusable. The summer season in which an important part of our income comes in through agritourism is at risk, and we need to act quickly to find solutions.”
A fundraiser to restore the road
It is the whole community that is mobilizing to have access to their homes and businesses again. It starts from the bottom up, to find the funds needed to reconnect the six families left isolated with the world-a chance to turn the problem into an opportunity to build new community infrastructure from scratch. To contribute to this project, a crowfunding campaign has been launched-any help is welcome.
