“To build a new world and based on the principles of dignity, solidarity, social and environmental justice, agroecology, without discrimination due to origin, gender and sexual and religious orientation, there is a need for project, commitment, practice, confrontation, study, training, discussion, learning from one’s mistakes. Of organizing and struggle.”

From Terra Liquida ODV ‘s experience in emergency and post-emergency management in flooded territories comes the need for a tool to communicate and enable meeting and confrontation

“Those who have not experienced the damage of the flood on their own skin, those who have not soaked themselves in mud (and with the regurgitating sewers it was not just mud) do not have the perception of this particular disaster that man is making in the world of which he is a guest. The terrible experiences of even the recent past, the Vajonts and the sacred texts of the Tina Merlins evidently were not enough. So we believe that witnesses should be able to tell and raise awareness. We want a world in which land management is a public thing, in which inhabitants actively participate as informed, aware and politically significant people and not as spectators or harmed. For us, families who move to the mountains, or who remain there, are a vanguard to be supported and encouraged against land abandonment and destruction according to a fully agroecological vision of the world that welcomes us.

With our few forces, we oppose the strategy of forced depopulation of marginal areas. We want to contribute to the survival of small mountain communities affected by climate and hydrogeological disruption. We believe that emergency situations are opportunities to work out and implement together new ecological models of living and coexisting on the land.

To give voice to these issues, to support broad critical reasoning and to open theoretical and political confrontations, to gather ideas and plans useful for improvement, we needed forces beyond the skills and enthusiasms of the early volunteers. It was not enough to know how to remove uprooted trees, repair pipes, vacuum sludge, console families, operate excavators. We needed new tools and people to structure the narrative, organize the reporting and solicit political criticism.”
