European WWOOF Coordinators’ Meeting

by | Nov 2, 2022 | Blog, from our networks, WWOOF in the World

Between the 6th and 9th of October, the European WWOOF Coordinators’ Meeting was held in Denmark. There were national coordinators representing several European countries: France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and some delegates from WWOOF USA and the Federation of WWOOF Organisations (FoWO) as well. The Meeting was held on Fyn island, at a sweet and rustic farm.

In these 3 intense days the participants talked about the new Common WWOOF Platform and the role and identity of WWOOF organisations. The objectives of the 2030 Vision of the Federation of WWOOF Organisations was presented and discussed (eg. a “supporter” membership for the people who wish to support and be a part of the WWOOF movement even if not WWOOFing actively, FoWO advocating for small-scale organic farmers at an international level, etc…) followed by a brainstorming session about how to achieve these goals. The delegates shared the good practices they have been carrying on in their countries, such as supporting local agroecological projects and cooperating with like minded organisations. Thanks to a sunny day it was possible for the group to take a trip to the little sweet and perfect Island called Stryno, where they visited 2 WWOOF Hosts: a wine producer and an apple juice producer.

The partecipants had plenty of occasions to have lot of fun as well, even attending a local rock concert in the evening. Last but not least, a great food including homegrown organic vegetables and the Typical herring could not be missing.

Now the national WWOOF coordinators are back to their countries , full of energy and good practices to implement!
